The Ford Amphitheater's Spaceframe Roof Structure
ASFI designed and built this spaceframe roof structure - the Ford Amphitheater. The 95,000-square-foot complex is located at the fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida.
The unique custom-designed spaceframe roof structure is a first of its kind for Clear Channel Entertainment, the owner and manager of the facility. CCE is a division of Clear Channel Communications and owns and operates numerous entertainment venues around the country.
ASFI worked closely with Project Architect Gould Evans Associates, Inc. and General Contractor R.J. Griffin & Company to develop a unique design that provides aesthetic appeal and improved site lines, along with increased seating capacity. The translucent fabric spaceframe roof structure covers the stage area and 9,900 seats. An additional 10,000 fans may be accommodated in festival lawn seats. The creative, cost-effective approach was on-time and on-budget.
