ASFI Builds Four-Stage Work Structure for Tankinetics.

Innovative solution provides the protection and work environment required for onsite production of 60-foot wide chemical storage tanks

October 30, 2006 (Crystal River, FL) — American Spaceframe Fabricators International (ASFI) announced today the completion of the custom designed and fabricated structure for Tankinetics Corporation, a specialty fiberglass storage tank manufacturer. The 80-foot wide by 87-foot tall 437,486 cubic foot structure commissioned by Tankinetics is designed to provide shelter during the two to three month construction of a 60-foot wide chemical storage tank.

Erected at Tankinetics’ customer facility, the four-stage ASFI structure will provide shelter and help Tankinetics’ engineers maintain the integrity of their manufacturing process. Without an onsite shelter, production was previously confined to the Tankinetics’ factory which limited tank size and presented transportation challenges.

“To build two 60-foot diameter tanks at a major utility, we needed a structure that could quickly and cost effectively be built and removed immediately after production was complete,” said Bill Schwarz, president of Tankinetics. “While it provided protection, traditional structures didn’t provide the flexibility we needed. Working with ASFI, we were able to design a custom modular building that met current and future project requirements.”

Made to withstand a wide range of climates — from snow loads up to 50 lbs. psf to 146 mph winds — ASFI structures are constructed by tightening a durable flexible fabric cover over a steel or aluminum frame. Because of the construction materials used, ASFI structures can be custom designed to the unique requirements of the project, quickly deployed and affordably priced.

“Due to the temporary nature of the Tankinetics project, the ASFI structure was an ideal solution that they could reuse for future projects as well,” said Craig Anderson, CEO of ASFI. “This project is a perfect example of how our engineers are able to address complex problems with innovative and affordable solutions.”
