What are tensioned fabric structures?
Tensioned fabric structures start with steel or aluminum frames. A flexible fabric cover is tightened over the frame to create a tensioned, durable and aesthetically pleasing structure. Because of the incredibly strong fabric, we are able to provide long clear spans to meet all your structural needs. Some of the largest stadiums, airports, shopping malls and commercial structures in the world are long clear span structures with fabric. For example, the Denver International Airport is completely covered in fabric.

Can I get a structure in the size I need?
When you work with ASFI, you can get any size you need. ASFI has engineered and built clear span structures ranging from 30 feet to 500 feet wide. We custom design and engineer all of our structures to meet your specific needs.

What is the life expectancy of an ASFI structure?
ASFI uses Seaman’s Shelter Rite fabric. The fabric generally lasts 15 to 20 years depending on the structure, as well as on the uses and conditions the fabric is exposed to over time. The fabric meets all state and federal fire codes. We use a polyester fabric, either 24- or 28-ounce weight, with enhanced UV Tedlar® to preserve the look of the fabric over time.

What type of snow and wind loads can your fabric structures withstand?
ASFI’s structures have been installed in all kinds of climates all over the world. From Chile to Minnesota (snow loads up to 40 lbs. psf), from Florida to the United Kingdom and from Hawaii to Arizona. While our structures are generally constructed to withstand 90 mph winds, they have survived several hurricanes in Florida (wind loads up to 125mph) and several severe snowstorms in Chile and Minnesota. Our structures are built to last.

Do you use steel or aluminum in your frames?
We can use either steel or aluminum.
